Obtaining Further Copies of RECORDER

Is RECORDER 3.x still available?
Yes, it is still possible to obtain copies of RECORDER 3.3 from JNCC. These are available free of charge, although there is a charge if you require documentation (Manual plus Tutorial). RECORDER 3.3 still comes on floppy disks - eleven in all.

Copies can be obtained from John Morris at JNCC

You will first need to install the 8 disks which gives you version 3.21b of RECORDER. You will then need to use the 3 further disks to update to RECORDER 3.3. (Note that Expanded Memory must be available if this upgrade is to work successfully, and that it is essential to make a backup copy of both the AREV and RECORDER directories.

To upgrade to RECORDER 3.4 you will need to run the final update to RECORDER version 3.4.5 which is available on the new RECORDER 2002 CD. This was circulated to all registered users of RECORDER 2000 at the beginning of the January 2003. This update should also be available shortly from the NBN website. (though only the update to version 3.4.3 was available as at 6th Jan 2003.

It is essential that you perform this upgrade if you wish your data to be compatible with other RECORDER Users, and the final upgrade to ver 3.4 is essential to enable data to be readied for transfer to RECORDER 2002.

Can I still add new species to RECORDER 3.x?
Yes. If you need to add a species to your version of RECORDER, please email
John Morris with full details. You will be sent a unique number and a password. The password is only valid for the day it was issued, but can be used later on providing you change your PC clock to the specific date. It is therefore good practice to keep a log of all new species you add to RECORDER, and the dates on which passwords were issued.

How  can I purchase a copy of RECORDER 2002?
Click here for a list of licenced resellers on the NBN websiteummary of install details to follow. (Is the original version still available on disk? NM to check)
