Prior to becoming manager of CEDaR, I trained as an entomologist, identifying ground beetles and spiders from a range of habitats throughout Ireland. In recent years, I went back to this role, now assisting (when possible) individuals to become competent recorders, particularly of spiders.

My role as CEDaR Manager involves a variety of tasks, ranging from adding data to databases to managing projects and their outcomes. Over the last 20 years, I have managed several all-Ireland projects and the production of numerous books. Future challenges involve the wider dissemination of data (e.g. NBN, planners, environmental consultants, etc.) and the continuous roll-out of recording projects.

Since 2007, I have maintained a cuckoo recording scheme. This initiative now functions as a 'classic' Citizen Science project. There are other projects to become involved with, for example, currently rolling-out a pitfall trapping exercise for anyone that is interested in placing a trap. Interested?
